Hamilton Day was first introduced in 1931 during the Great Depression — a time when community spirit and local business support were more vital than ever. In 2021, amid the challenges of the pandemic, the event was revived with the same mission: to bring people together and uplift small businesses.
Katie Stiel, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, reflects on how Hamilton Day has evolved into a city-wide celebration with over 1,000 participating businesses and vibrant activations across neighborhoods.
“It’s become a true tradition again,” Katie shares. “From a one-day campaign to a full weekend of connection and commerce.”
