Having a Snow Ball, Brent Anderson

Brent was born and raised in Scarborough and has been a graphic designer at The Printing House Limited™ for the past six years. "Having a Snow Ball" was created by scanning in an initial, hand drawn, concept sketch. The scan was then brought into Photoshop and digitally painted. The piece is meant to reflect the joy of play on a snowy winter day.

Harmony, Connie Christensen

Connie Christensen, from Calgary, uses art to represent the resilience of the human spirit. Her work can most often be recognized by the use of colour and design in a conscious effort to open up to the joy and positive energy of life. Simplicity is often key in creating a perception of freshness. She takes inspiration from Van Gogh's observation: "What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?"

She simply wants to contribute something positive.

Pond Essentials, Donna MacDonald

Donna lives in Calgary, Alberta with her husband and family. She paints using a wet into wet (alla prima) technique to tell a story and maybe spark a memory of perhaps a walk in the park or a day at the beach. Although representational her impressionistic style is meant to draw the viewer in as a participant rather than a spectator.

As an added bonus, painting has provided her relief from almost daily migraines which she has suffered for over thirty years. She believes she is doing what she was always meant to do and feels blessed to follow her dreams.

A Heart Warming Christmas, Anna Salisbury-Vander Heide

This is a picture of what I think is Christmas and what Christmas hopefully looks like in most children's heads. "A heart warming Christmas with your beloved family, and a happy holiday."

Arctic Breeze, Rady Soltani

For me, design is like choosing what I'm going to wear for the day, only much more complicated and not really the same at all. I always loved playing computer games. In high school I started exploring the graphic side of computers and what I could create with them. Before I knew it I was in love with the Adobe programs and mostly used Photoshop to turn my friends into something unnatural (and I still do). I became very much interested in the Graphic Design program at Seneca@York University and that's what I ended up studying after high school as well as photography shortly after.

Just Waves of Colour,
Just Olde Fashioned Fun,
Waves of Colour, Madge "Granny1" Wilson

Folk Art has always been a part of Granny1's life. As a young girl, she crafted sandals from old horse harness, recycled vegetable crates into furniture and took leftover paint to decorate the old chicken coop that became her private play area. Supplementing the family income, early in her marriage, by painting a multitude of items including real estate signage, stage props and murals.

In 2007, Granny1 decided that after 40 years, it was time to pick up a paint brush again or in her case a sponge and a new ERA of her artistic career began. Her works can be found across Canada, USA and abroad in private and corporate collections.
